Esta exclusiva excursión tiene un poco de todo lo que hace tan fascinante a la República Dominicana. Conocerá a muchos lugareños y explorará el interior, alrededor del río. Salga de los caminos trillados para conocer la cultura y la sociedad dominicanas visitando una granja frutícola, un pueblo pesquero y un mercado. En el mercado se puede comprar de todo, desde una botella de ron hasta un pollo vivo".

La visita a una plantación le hará sentir enseguida el verdadero sabor del país. Podrá saborear frutas tropicales como la papaya y la piña, así como café y cacao. La siguiente etapa es Higuey, la capital de la provincia, donde podrá buscar especias en el mercado y ver cómo los lugareños se abastecen de productos frescos. También pasará por la moderna basílica, un importante santuario.

A continuación, nos dirigiremos hacia el sur a través de la campiña tropical hasta el pequeño pueblo pesquero de Boca de Yuma. Tras un tranquilo almuerzo a base de platos caribeños preparados con ingredientes locales, dará un paseo en barco por el río Yuma. Después, descubra la complicada historia de las plantaciones de caña de azúcar dominicanas en un "batey". Estos campos de plantación albergan comunidades de haitianos recolectores de caña de azúcar. Conozca a la comunidad, charle con ellos y asista a un espectáculo de vudú.

Luis, one of our local guides, says, ‘We are the world's largest producer of organic, fair trade cocoa. Around half of our cocoa is made into the finest chocolate you can buy.
