Activiteiten in Chichén Itzá
Chichén Itzá is een belangrijk archeologisch Maya-complex in Mexico, in het noordelijke deel van het schiereiland Yucatán. De ruïnes, die een oppervlakte van 3 vierkante kilometer beslaan, behoorden tot een grote stad die tussen de zesde en elfde eeuw een van de belangrijkste centra in de regio was rond de periode van de Maya-beschaving. De site bevat verschillende gebouwen die representatief zijn voor verschillende bouwstijlen, zoals de Piramide van Kukulcán, de Tempel van de Krijgers en prachtig bewaarde kleinere tempels in hun omgeving.
De site van Chichén Itzá werd in 1988 uitgeroepen tot UNESCO-werelderfgoed en is in 2007 uitgeroepen tot een van de 7 moderne wereldwonderen.

“De gids sprak constant spaans op de bus en een heel klein beetje engels. Bovendien heeft hij weinig of geen uitleg gegeven op de bus over de streek of hetgeen we gingen bezoeken. Wel meer dan een uur een uitleg in het spaans over de verkoop van een Mexicaanse kalender dewelke men kon aankopen. Ook door onduidelijke communicatie waren we een uur te vroeg terug aan de bus waardoor we een uur minder de site hebben kunnen bezorgen. Een veel te late lunch (17u30) en 2x cenote-bezoek...”
